Sectional Mast (PA2)
The PA2 Aluminium Sectional Mast Series offers a versatile solution for various applications, combining lightweight design, rapid deployment, and excellent durability to withstand even the harshest conditions. Ideal for lighter head-loads, these masts are perfect for field use and beyond.
Standard Series PA2/B:
Developed with first-hand knowledge of tough environmental conditions, the PA2 sectional mast series by SMC delivers outstanding performance. With a section wall thickness of 7 SWG (4.2 mm), it can endure drops on rocky terrain and withstand being run over by vehicles, while remaining compact enough for unobtrusive storage in a portable shelter or easy transport in a Land Rover.
Assembling the mast is effortless, thanks to the expanded ends on mast sections, allowing quick erection by unskilled staff. A three-person team can set up the 14.63m or 18.28m mast in under half an hour, following practical installation instructions.
With a wide selection of stock components, these masts can be customised to suit your specific needs, whether for transportable setups with canvas carrying bags and hardware or permanent installations complete with masthead and intermediate halyards, ICAO-compliant masthead lighting, erection kit, and ground anchors.
Lightweight Series PA2/BML:
Building upon the established PA2 Series, the SMC introduced the PA2/BML Series – a lighter duty 50.8mm OD x 14 SWG mast. Maintaining excellent performance, this series is tailored for users who prioritise weight and versatility over ultra-rugged design.
With expanded ends forming female sockets, the mast sections are effortlessly assembled without the need for tools. Supplied with necessary stays in 6mm pre-stretched polyester, ground steelwork, and a halyard for wire antennas, these masts are adaptable and come with a convenient carrying kit bag unless specified otherwise.
Available in 2m height increments from 7.3m to 15m, the PA2/BML masts are quickly delivered and can be customized to meet your unique requirements.
PA2 Headload and Wind Ratings:
The standard head-load for all masts includes a head-load plus mountings with a windage area of 0.3 sq.m (equivalent to 67kg drag at 160 kph) or a single wire VHF dipole up to 30m long between supports with an initial tension of 30kg. Customisable options for larger head-loads or higher windspeeds are available depending on your specific application.
